Looking for a sports activity to get you through the winter?
The great American picnic game has moved indoors!
Horseshoe pitching with the Greater Omaha Horseshoe League is the answer. Indoor horseshoes starts in October and runs through April. Leagues play on several week nights at 6pm or 8pm.
The GOHL is sanctioned by the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association but if you have never been an NHPA member before, you can now become a “Trial Member”, play the entire league season, and your NHPA dues are waived. Only regular league fees apply. All current and former NHPA members still need current regular full memberships.
Winter leagues play at the indoor facility located at 6510 North 91st Plaza.
What would I need to play? You will want to have your own set of horseshoes although you may use your partners shoes from time to time in the Omaha league.
You can buy regulation shoes here.
A pair of regulation horseshoes will cost between $25.00 and $85.00.
Other than that, you just need to want to have a great 2 hours of fun.
Horseshoes is also played in the Omaha area all summer long.
For more information, contact the GOHL at 402-637-8043.
